Sony confirms PlayStation 2 emulation for the PS4

In an email with Wired magazine, Sony acknowledged that they are actively working to bring PlayStation 2 games to the PS4.

“We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation.”

That’s great news, there are still plenty of questions. When will these games be available to play? What games are Sony currently seeking to bring to the PS4? The entire library or just partial? If PlayStation 2 games are now able to be emulated, is it not out of the question to emulate PlayStation 3 games?

“We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”

Oh. Great. Well, the PlayStation Experience is only two weeks away. Hopefully Sony will have more details for us by then.
