Rumor: Next Assassin’s Creed set in Egypt, will release in 2017

by Joshua Russo

According to Kotaku sources, the next main installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be set in Egypt and will be called Assassin’s Creed Empire. The sources are also saying that Empire will not release in 2016, but 2017. If true this would make 2016 this first year after six straight without an Assassin’s Creed game release.

The rumor has also appeared on 4chan earlier today by a poster claiming to be an employee at Ubisoft. The posts have been archived at Neogaf.

If you’re disappointed by the thought of Assassin’s Creed withdrawal this year, don’t be, because we will still be able to see Michael Fassbender and the Animus in the Assassin’s Creed movie.
